As a cobblers, We have had the pleasure of working on many pairs of Thursday Boots. These boots are known for their durability and style, but even the best boots will eventually need a little TLC. One of the most common issues we see with Thursday Boots is worn out soles. The factory soles that come on these boots are good quality, but they can be upgraded to an even better sole - the Vibram sole. In this blog post, I'll walk you through the process of re-soling your Thursday Boots with a Vibram sole, and why it's worth the investment.
The first step in re-soling your Thursday Boots with a Vibram sole is to bring them into our shop or ship them in. When you or your boots arrive, we'll take a look at the current condition of the soles and discuss the options for re-soling. One option is to simply replace the factory soles with new Vibram soles. This is the most straightforward option, and it will give your boots the best level of traction and support.
Another option is to get creative with your resole upgrade that may be a little more costly but make your Thursday Boots upgraded and custom. The choice is yours, and we will make sure to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.
Once you've decided on the best option for your boots, We'll get to work. The first step is to remove the factory soles from your boots. This is done carefully to ensure that the leather upper of the boots is not damaged in any way.
Next, we remove the cork and replace it with fresh new cork at the same time we are able to check to make sure the metal shank isn't damaged or need replacing. After that is you ask for a midsole or your style has a midsole originally on your Thursday Boots we will glue on the midsole. Some unit soles that already have a heel built into them will need the midsole regardless while some sole options don't need a midsole and can have a slimmer profile to the boots.
After the midsole is glued on (if it is needed or requested) depending on the sole you choice we will trim the midsoles to the Goodyear Welt and stitch it with our Outsole Stitcher if you have chosen a unit sole of you chose a sole that can be stitched such as a Vibram Eton or a Vibram 430 Mini Lug we will glue the sole to the midsole then outsole stitch through the soles.
Once the stitching is done a unit still sole will move on to the sanding and finishing but a sole that is stitched through will still need its leather stacked heel bass aka heel block put back on and nailed from the inside of the boots.
Finally we can add the toplift (the rubber heel pad) and finish sanding and re-edging the edge of your Thursday Boots.
A quick buffing and your Thursday Boots Resole is ready for wear!
The Vibram soles are known for their durability, grip and traction. They are made of a specialized rubber that is designed to last longer than traditional leather and other rubber soles. They are also slip-resistant, which makes them a great choice for those who work in construction or other industries where safety is a concern.
Finally, We will do a final check to ensure that the boots look and feel great.
Re-soling your Thursday Boots with a Vibram sole is a great way to extend the life of your boots and ensure that they continue to provide the support and traction that you need. It's a small investment that will pay off in the long run. The process is relatively simple and straightforward, and it can be done with the proper know how. If your Thursday Boots are starting to show signs of wear on the soles, consider having them re-soled with a Vibram sole to keep them looking and feeling great for years to come.
