Oiled Leather Care
Oiled leather is produced by many tanneries and is known by several different names including Chromexcel, CXL, and Push-Up. The leather is infused with oil as part of the tanning process. It offers a more rustic look that only gets better with use and age. In addition, it provides better strength, more durability, and improved water resistance when compared to other tanned leathers. Many of our customers choose this type of leather for their all-weather shoes and boots. Oiled leathers must be treated differently than non-oiled leathers to ensure they are cleaned and conditioned properly by using products that do not include any added waxes, solvents, or silicon.
